Sheila Stewart, MEd, LPC
I have had the privilege to guide and help adolescents and adults from various backgrounds for over 13 years as a licensed therapist. Through all my experiences I have witnessed people's capacity to change and make their world better. It's important to recognize negative thought patterns that can develop when going through difficult situations or negative thinking habits we don't realize we possess. I would like the opportunity to help you change to more positive thoughts which will in turn assist you to more successful choices and better feelings.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) with a focus on the here and now progressing forward toward a successful life is the method I use most. I also incorporate Mindfulness practice to ground oneself in the present without judgement.
"Self-control is strength. Calmness is mastery. You have to get to a point where your mood doesn't shift based on the insignificant actions of someone else. Don't allow others to control the direction of your life. Don't allow your emotions to overpower your intelligence."
